Callinex Mines (CNX.V) continues to work hard to prove up additional value on its base metal projects, and the company has just kicked off its summer drilling campaign in Manitoba where it’s still exploring its 100% owned Pine Bay VMS project in the shadow of HudBay Minerals (HBM.TO, HBM) 777 mine.
Callines is planning to drill at least three drill holes for a total of approximately 3,000 meters, and as we explained in one of our previous updates on the blog, at least one of these holes (in fact, the first one) will be drilled to test a highly conductive target near the Sourdough zone.
The two other holes that will be drilled during this drill campaign will deepen two existing historical drill results drilled by respectively Placer Dome in 1993 and Inmet in 1995. Placer and Inmet had roughly the same idea and interpretation two decades ago, and both holes to be drilled by Callinex will be parallel and just 360 meters apart from each other. Callinex thinks both previous operators didn’t drill deep enough to get to the ‘interesting zones’. According to CNX, the deeper holes will ‘provide excellent geophysical and geological coverage to properly test the down-plunge and lateral extension of the Pine Bay East Zone’, which was discovered in last year’s winter drilling campaign.
