Fremont Gold (FRE.V) has mobilized an RC drill rig to start an initial 2,000 meter drill program on the Griffon project in Nevada, the first drill program on the property in over 20 years. Twenty drill sites have been permitted, and Fremont expects to use ten of those sites (drilling one hole per site for now) for the initial drill program which will drill-test an existing and known area of unmined mineralization southwest of the Hammer Ridge pit, gold-in-soil anomalies and the Blackrock fault running through the property. In a previous release, Fremont provided more details on the 20 drill sites and the rationale behind drilling on those exact locations.
We aren’t sure how busy the labs in Nevada are these days and how COVID-19 impacts the turnaround time, but RC drilling goes pretty fast and there is a good chance we will see initial assay results by the end of July, early August. As this is the first drill program on Griffon in several decades and the historical drill holes barely scratched the surface, it will be interesting to see what Fremont Gold will come up with.
