Simba Energy (SMB.V) has announced the results of their passive seismic survey on their 100% owned Block 2A in Kenya, Africa.

The first lead at Target 1 with an area of 29km² demonstrates the highest level of hydrocarbon seismic energy interpreted amongst all seven potential leads identified by this survey. The company also found a second – and much likely related – lead which has a surface area of in excess of 100 square kilometers.

Simba now intends to carry out a minimum 200km of 2D and possibly 3D seismic to define the location and depth for the Company’s first exploration well at Target 1.

James Dick, Simba’s Chief Technical Officer comments ‘The passive seismic survey has discovered four more potential leads for follow up at our primary and secondary leads (P1 & P2) and confirmed good potential for hydrocarbons.’

We are excited about Simba’s future, as the Passive Seismic Survey confirms that block 2A might contain hydrocarbons and once the drill targets are further defined, Simba could be on its way to another discovery in Kenya, after Tullow Oil (TLW.L)Africa Oil (AOI.V) found large oil structures earlier this year.
