Silver Valley Metals (SILV.V) is currently focusing on its silver projects in Idaho’s Silver Valley but a lot of investors may be forgetting the company actually also still has a potash project gathering dust on the shelf.
The company still owns its Mexican potash project (which doesn’t even have a name) in Mexico’s Zacatecas state. The project has a maiden compliant resource with about 120 million tonnes with a 4.6% potassium grade and an average grade of 380 ppm lithium based on the sediment material present in the three separate salars.
Some areas have a high grade component with for instance the La Salada salar with 20 million tonnes hosting an average grade of 880 ppm lithium for 94,000 tonnes of LCE. The total SOP content is approximately 12.3 million tonnes of Sulphate of Potash, the lesser known but higher value sibling of the standard Muriate of Potash.
As this is a legacy project and Silver Valley wants to focus on its Idaho silver projects, the company is currently actively exploring all options for the Mexican lithium-potash projects including a sale, joint venture or a spin-off into a new vehicle.
