Western Alaska Minerals (WAM.V) has confirmed drilling has started on its fully owned Illinois Creek project in Alaska. This 4,000 meter drill program was designed to try to tie the individual zones of the CRD system together by connecting the LH and Warm Springs Zone and hopefully link those two zones to the Illinois Creek mine zone. The company has provided more details on both the LH Zone and the Warm Springs Zone and why these two zones are priority zones for the company.
The exploration program will be drill-testing the theory that continuity of the mineralization is a key element of CRDs and according to CEO Marrs, the high grade nature and the lateral consistency of the Waterpump Creek maiden resource tells the exploearion team there should be ‘potent mineralization extending across Illinois Creek from Waterpump to the old open pit mine’. That old open pit could potentially be the source of the system. And is located about 6-8 kilometers from the Waterpump Creek area where the maiden resource of 74.9 million silver-equivalent ounces (including 21.4M ounces of silver) is hosted.
