Prairie Mining (ASX:PDZ) has announced it will rename the Lublin Coal project in the Jan Karski project which is without a doubt to get more local support for the project as Jan Karski was a famous Polish hero. There was an extremely encouraging press conference at the beginning of December where the Marshal of Lublin confirmed the support of the region for the coal project which could be a major positive for Prairie’s permitting process.

Prairie’s future Jan Karski mine has considerable upside potential as the mine could produce an interesting mix of thermal coal and metallurgical coal whereby both would be mined at relatively high operating margins. On top of that, Prairie’s tenements are adjacent to the already producing Bogdanka mine owned by a Polish company with a market capitalization of approximately 3.3B zloty ($885M). 2015 could be a very interesting year for Prairie because if the company’s share price and market capitalization doesn’t improve, it could become a buyout target for Bogdanka as there’s little doubt a mining concession will be granted in the not so distant future.
