Excelsior Mining (MIN.TO) has confirmed the Environmental Protection Agency (‘EPA’) has extended the public comment period on the permitting process of the Gunnison copper project in Arizona by an additional two months. This extension will facilitate a (final?) public meeting, scheduled for February 27th in the town of Dragoon, Arizona.
After the extended public comment period and the public meeting, we will probably see a revised permitting timeline for the company. The delay is unfortunate, but it’s better to be safe than sorry and the intention to build a mine which meets all environmental and regulatory requirements is a must.
