Aztec Minerals (AZT.V) has released the assay results from two additional holes that were drilled on the Cervantes property in Mexico. The eye-catcher is hole 4 (CAL22-004) which encountered 167 meters of 1 g/t gold starting right at surface. This hole did include a higher grade interval of 4.25 g/t gold starting at a depth of 131 meters which means the remaining 143 meters of this hole had an average grade of approximately 0.44 g/t.
That’s in line with the results from hole 3 (46 meters containing 0.45 g/t gold) and slightly higher than the results of hole 2 (99 meters of 0.37 g/t gold).
The Aztec-Kootenay joint venture has now completed almost 4,700 meters of drilling in 26 holes which means the assay results from an additional 22 holes still have to be reported. The focus of this drill program was to better define the open pit of the oxide zone at California and follows up on the Phase 1 drill program which consisted of 17 holes for a total of almost 2,700 meters of drilling. Phase 1 was completed in 2018 so it was about time to see the project being drilled again.
