Cypress Development (CYP.V) has released the interim test results from its pilot plant which aims to confirm the metallurgical test results on the Clayon Valley lithium project. These interim results seem to confirm the data used for the pre-feasibility study. The lithium was first concentrated into a solution with an average grade of 2,700 ppm lithium (with no significant impurities) while the average extraction rate of the lithium is approximately 83-85%. On top of that, the process was able to reduce about 80% of the sodium and potassium without having to concede on the lithium recovery results while 99% of the calcium, iron, aluminum and magnesium are removed as well. Looking at the Lionex test results, the lithium extraction rate was 98%. Lionex is the proprietary technology owned by Chemionex which signed a license agreement with Cypress Development in 2021.

The pre-feasibility study was based on an average lithium recovery rate of 83% so the preliminary results of the pilot plant are in line with and perhaps slightly exceeding the expectations.
