K92 Mining (KNT.V) has told the market the refurbishment of the Kainantu processing plant has now been completed, which allowed the company to restart the processing operations at the existing plant. Even though K92 is just in the early stages of restarting the mining and milling operations, the company has already engaged Mincore to complete a scoping study targeting to double the capacity of the plant, to 400,000 tonnes per year.
This scoping study should be ready within the next few weeks, and it would be really interesting to see if K92 Mining will go ahead with an expansion, as the company seems to be very confident it will be able to mine a sufficient amount of ore to fill the capacity of the mill.
Finding more ore (and being able to access it) is one of the reasons why K92 has kicked off an exploration campaign as the company has started an underground diamond drill program at the Irumafimpa ore zone, with a second drill rig targeting the Judd vein system which has a strike length of 2,500 meters and running parallel with the Irumafimpa and Kora zones.
