Vanstar Mining Resources (VSR.V) has announced the partial results from the first two holes drilled on its Bousquet-Odyno gold project in Québec. Hole BO-22-63 contained an excellent interval of 10.5 meters of 10.14 g/t gold. While the company used 21 meters containing 5.23 g/t gold in its headline, if we would isolate the higher grade 10.5 meter interval, the remaining 10.5 meters would be carrying just 0.32 g/t. So pretty much the entire 21 meter interval is carried by the 10.5 meter higher grade intercept.

Hole 64 also contained gold, but closer to surface. Whereas the mineralized interval starts at 301 meters downhole in the first hole this is not a problem as the company was specifically targeting gold mineralization at depth), the gold mineralization is encountered at a depth of just 104 meters in hole 64. With 6.5 metes containing 2.1 g/t gold, the interval seems to be fine for an open pit but we can make the same remark as in hole 1. The majority of the 6.5 meter interval grade comes from the narrower but higher grade interval of 3.5 meters containing 3.53 g/t. The grade of the residual 3 meters is just 0.43 g/t.

These are just the (partial results of) the first two holes drilled by Vanstar on the property and it is very encouraging to see the first two holes actually encountering gold where it was expected. As you can see in the image at the top of this blog post, the location of hole 63 is very interesting as this adds about 100 meters of vertical depth to one of the known areas.

And thanks to these very encouraging results, Vanstar Mining has increased the size of its drill program from 5,000 meters to 9,000 meters.
